Daichan's anyone?

This is place is freaking awesoem when it comes to Japanese food. It's kind of a quaint joint tucked away on the vein of Studio City, Ventura Blvd. My friend Adam and I headed over there today for lunch, and like always left with a belly full of joy. I had the Maguro - Toro Poke bowl. It's a bowl of brown rice topped with bits of tuna and sesame seasoning with green onions and what looked to be nori. Adam had the Ginger Chicken with the Poke Roll. The Poke roll was basically a kick-ass tuna roll. Man that stuff was killer. Too bad I don't live closer, I would probably be hanging out there a lot. Dual Eyed Easter??

Well Happy Easter everyone! Today is yet another day where I can keep adding to my blog. Last night was fortuitous. My good friend Kenny calls and he mentioned a restaraunt he has visited called Terried Sake. Kind of an odd name for a japanese restaraunt, but whatevahs. So we venture forth and make an evening out of it. Fortunately for us, we were in luck, because of it being Easter and all, the restaraunt wasn't packed which made for a more pleasing dining experience. Well anyways this place is located in Santa Monica, kind of obscure. Nice menu to order from. All said and done, we probably paid like $45 for the both of us with quite a large dinner. So after that we cruised back to my neck of the woods, and ended up at Prince O' Wales. It's a local dive, but quaint. Again just like the japanese restaraunt, it was dead. They had a local band playing but other then themselves, there really wasn't much else going on in this place. So my buddy and i pulled up a seat and started to embibe of the juice.

The Prince O' Wales is an odd setup. When one walks in, he/she is greeted with a canopy covered court area dressed with drab tables and a couple of blarring televisions. To the right is an area what looks to be dressed in wood planks, the walls and the floor, good sized room. To the left of the court area, is yet another bar area, where they have karaoke, it's smaller that the first area. In it tonight is the band, Dual Eyed Mic. The side of the bar i usually venture, the wood plank side, has closed at an early our and the side I least venture has remained open. Puzzled I question the bar maid. She tells us that they reorganized the place as to make the one side of the establishment strictly for bands as it lent itself to keep a better cap of the music that escapes the bar. Basically, it was easier to contain the loud music on that side of the bar, and keep from getting the neighbors upset. Not long into our elixers did we get acosted by a rather corpulent woman, dressed reminiscent of the Go Go's. Muttering such things as, "you really wanna buy this CD." Of course my companion and I looked puzzling at each other wondering if we could make out what she was talking about. The band was loud as we were sitting only a short distance from their performance. Without a visible "volume knob" we couldn't turn their music down from eleven. But still this person holding what looked to be a CD case with a colorful cover, kept on muttering at us and tapping the case with her long bright fingernail. We got what she was getting at. She wanted to us to buy this band's CD. We waived her off like trying to wave off an out of formation F-16 Tomcat trying to land on the flat top of an aircraft carrier. To our shagrin, she returned with a jar full of dollar bills. I thought to myself, "Geez she's back with something else. Great looks like a tipping jar of some sort. I hope she's not going to strip for us. that or she's asking us for money to keep her from strpping." But no, she was asking for contributions for the band. We were quick to pull out a dollar if that meant she would then leave us alone. And voila... she was gone as quickly as she showed up.

Kenny and I turn our attention to our spirits in a glass. They were running low, so we beckoned for the bar maid to come hither and refil our 'grog'. Odd though this visit as compared to my last. Aside from this tid bit of information, Kenny and I continued with other topics of conversation. One interesting one was that of relationships and learning from them. We ended up getting the bar maid involved with our topic as she is a woman and she could lend some relevancy to our discussion.

Sure enough our hostess of the evening has had her share of failed relationships and was married and divorced twice, and is currently in a relationship. She thanks her lucky stars that she has learned quite a bit from those times in her life. We continued on with the importance of our own roles and knowing ourselves to be able to make a relationship work. The three of us continued on for a while spewing forth our own wisdom from experience. Kenny and I left Prince 'O Wales soon after. We left with a realization and renewed motivation towards relationships, and feeling better about ourselves to boot.

It's often a wonder how certain things, places, events, and especially people that cross our paths have something to offer us if we're listening. I'm definitely a believer of paying attention to things in your life and being open minded about things that are all around us. One thing that happened today was talking to my girlfriend. She was recounting how she was on her way to her cousin's house and there was a myriad of moths or butterflies on the highway, and she was amazed at the shear number of these things. The irony came the next day when we talked about it again. She mentioned how it reminded he of that movie Magnolia, you know the one with Tom Cruise, and of the scene where it rained frogs. Anyways, after hanging up with me she turns the t.v. on and sees the movie we were just talking about and sees the scene with the down pour of frogs. How wierd is that? I mean that's a sign i'm sure of it.

Well anyways...
