Wedding Hula

December 10th 2005, a good friend of mine, Kaleo Calindo married his best friend, Jocelyn Padre. I was quite honored to have been invited to his wedding. I took place in an awesome church in Camarillo. The wedding was touching and full of love.

While trying to take pictures during the ceremony, I was surprised to see who I was sitting next to, Auntie Clarice. She was Kaleo's Kumu Hula in Carson. The wedding went off without a hitch and we were soon out front of the church watching the photographers take pictures of the wedding party and such. Adam, Grace and myself, turned and made our way to our cars to head to Moorpark where the wedding reception was held. As we headed there, we realized that the thing didn't start until a few hours later, so we ended up hanging out at a Starbucks there.

Well we got to the reception and headed into the club house and sat and hung out. We met a cool couple, Armando and Cecilia. Armando was quite the comedian. We found our way into the reception tent and we found our selves sitting with Cecilia and Armando once again. The night progressed and we heard word that Kaleo wanted myself, Adam, Grace, 'Uhane and his fiancee Nina to dance. We were a little leary, but we agreed. It was a lot of fun. Auntie Clarice got up and danced and so did some other kupuna, then it was our turn. We danced a few songs and the last one was a song that Kaleo did for Merrie Monarch. His brother came up to Adam and 'Uhane and said that half way through the song, leave the stage so that it's just Kaleo. Sure enough, half way through the song, they ditched him up tehre, and he was just jammin!

All in all, it was a great evening... All the best to Kaleo and Jocelyn!
